Its mission is to save lives through prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition worldwide. It excels after disasters and during emergencies. It also tackles food security, water and sanitation issues, and provides advice. The charity uses more than $0.90 of each dollar for its field programs.

It identifies itself as a Christian voice to get the leaders to end hunger at home and abroad.
